2012/2013 Chester County Science Research Competition
Honor Roll Sponsor: Wells Fargo Bank Now in it's 23rd year, the Chester County Science Research Competition (CCSRC) is dedicated to encouraging, supporting and developing scientific inquiry and discovery through individual and team science projects conducted by elementary, middle and high school students. We believe that students are the foundation of our nation's future. Their understanding and accomplishments in science and technology will prepare them to become the leaders of tomorrow and successful citizens in our technologically advancing society. We believe:
Over 500 aspiring young scientists annually turn out for the Chester County Science Research Competition. When: Monday, March 4, 2013 Where: Technical College High School (Pickering Campus), 1680 Charlestown Road, Phoenixville, PA • Arrival and Set Up 8:00 AM - 8:45 AM • Special Program 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM • Judging 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM • Dismissal 12:30 PM • Open House 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM • Breakdown and removal of projects after 7:00 PM Awards Ceremony: TBD. Only those students who have an award designation attached to their project board are asked to attend. There will be a mandatory meeting for all students advancing to the Delaware Valley Science Fair immediately after the grades 6 - 12awards program. If you do not attend, you will not be permitted to go to the Del-Val Science Fairs. Jonas Salk Fair (Grades 4 and 5) When: Tuesday, March 5, 2013 Where: Technical College High School (Pickering Campus), 1680 Charlestown Road, Phoenixville, PA The "Competition Day Schedule" is as follows: • Arrival and Set Up 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM • Judging 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM • Dismissal 12:30 PM • Open House 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM • Breakdown and removal of projects 7:00 PM Awards for Grades 4 & 5 will be distributed during the Open House. Students compete in the following scientific categories:
Students are judged in categories at seven levels: Level A - 12th grade students Level B - 11th grade students Level C - 10th grade students Level D - 9th grade students Level E - 6th, 7th, & 8th grade students Level F - 4th & 5th grade students Team Projects - 4th through 12th grade students Applications will only be accepted from participating public and non-public schools where the CCSRC School Coordinator has met all the necessary requirements. All projects and related questions should be directed to your CCSRC School Coordinator. Cyber schools are encouraged participate and are required to follow the same protocol as the public schools. All students must reside within Chester County to participate. Homeschool students who live in Chester County may participate in the Chester County Science Research Competition through the Chester County Homeschool Association. Please contact Margaret Greene.
