  • PIMS Grant: The Partnership in Mathematics and Science Project (PIMS) is a multi-year project designed to increase teacher knowledge. Participants are studying current research in teams that include college professors, educators and the scientists/engineers that work with NASA. The project explores the Earth through the eyes of a mathematician, physicist, chemist and a biologist. Teachers from the Coatesville and the Chester County Non-Public Schools are eligible to participate in the PIMS Project.

  • Science Assessment Bank and Science Framework: CCIU/MCIU Science Assessment Bank is an online bank of over 600 field-tested questions designed to improve your schools performance on the PSSA Science exam. There are numerous items for every science anchor at each testing level (grades 4, 8, and 11). Users have the ability to search for questions by anchor and searches can be narrowed by difficulty level (easy, medium, or hard), type of question (multiple choice or open-ended), and/or level of knowledge (conceptual, procedural, or strategic thinking). Every open-ended question includes an exemplary response for easy scoring. All questions can easily be exported into Word documents enabling you to build your own PSSA-like assessment. Access to the bank is available to districts for a one-time fee.

CCIU Science Framework is a helpful tool that enables teachers to improve and enhance their science lessons. It contains links to online resources, sample lesson plans, important vocabulary for each piece of science eligible content, cross-curricula activities, and correlations of eligible content to big ideas in science. An interactive scope and sequence/curriculum builder enables administrators to design and build curriculum in minutes. Access to the frame is available to districts for a one-time fee.

Learn about both products by viewing two 10-minute movies. They contain screen shots from the actual products with accompanying audio that thoroughly explains how the Science Curriculum Framework and the Science Assessment Bank sites function. Click on this link and log in as a guest.
