CAT Brandywine Practical Nursing Program turns 50
Coatesville, PA - The Practical Nursing program officially turns 50 on November 1, 2007. The Center for Arts & Technology Practical Nursing Program began in 1957 at the Chester County Hospital, back then, it was affiliated with the West Chester State Teachers College.
However, in 1968 the Central Chester County Vocational Technical High School assumed responsibility for the administrative and educational components of the Practical Nursing Program. At that time, the program relocated its instructional program to the technical school but retained the use of the Chester County Hospital as a clinical site. The Central Chester County Vocational Technical School was renamed the Center for Arts and Technology in 1990.
Today, the Practical Nursing Program continues to contribute to the quality of health care by providing high quality educational programs for students to become licensed practical nurses.
As the nursing shortage intensified, the program responded by increasing enrollment in the full-time program and added a part-time evening program option in 2002. The CAT Brandywine Practical Nursing program proudly boasts superior student outcomes with almost all graduates employed in area health care facilities.
The Center for Arts and Technology Practical Nursing Program proudly celebrates 50 years of graduating dedicate nurses to serve our community. We look forward to serving the educational needs of the health care community for another 50 years and then some!
