Introducing the Keystone Shining Star award program

Here's how it works:

Chester County public school teachers nominate their most improved student for the Keystone Shining Star award by writing a paragraph about a student from one of their classes whom they feel embodies the spirit of this award. All nominated students will receive a certificate of recognition. Nominations will be accepted between January 1 and April 1, 2008. About the winners:

Three students from each of the 12 Chester County Public School Districts and the Chester County Intermediate Unit will be recognized. Honorees will include one student from the elementary (K-5), middle (6-8), and high school (9-12) level from each school district for a total of 39 "shining stars". Each shining star will receive a $200 share certificate of deposit and a trophy from Keystone Federal Credit Union. In addition, the teacher of the winning student will receive a $200 gift certificate to a teacher supply store to stock up on classroom supplies.

Winners will be announced in May 2008.
