Automotive Collision Technology
The Auto Collision Technology program provides students with hands-on training as well as the technical knowledge required to master all types of collision repairs.
Collision repair technology has undergone major changes in the past few years, especially in the types of paints and composite materials being used on the automobile today. As a result, students entering the auto collision field need to learn the proper methods and procedures for restoring a damaged vehicle to its original condition.
Students learn MIG welding, metal and composite repair (structural and cosmetic), part replacement, and writing the cost estimate on a damaged vehicle. Students also learn spray gun and refinishing techniques using the most up-to-date computer mixing and matching equipment.
The Automotive Collision Technology class will use the I CAR curriculum, which is recognized as the national standard in auto collision instruction.
Career Opportunities:
With the growing number of vehicles on the road, the demand for qualified collision technicians is high. Graduates can also seek employment in many other areas of collision and refinishing repair such as the aviation and trucking industries. High pay and numerous job opportunities await skilled auto collision graduates.
