Automotive Service Technology
The Automotive Service Technology prepares students for an entry-level position in the field of automotive service and repair.
All course objectives parallel those of industry standards and are approved by an occupational advisory committee.
In the program students study the modern automobile in units called systems. These systems include, but are not limited to, the following:
- suspension and steering
- brakes
- electrical
- heating and air conditioning
- drive train and engine performance
The program allows students to explore career opportunities as well as post-secondary education. Students are also introduced to the ever-changing advances that take place both in the automobile and the automotive industry such as hybrid vehicles.
The hands-on approach to learning gives students the opportunity to practice team concepts and appropriate interaction with peers in today'ss workplace. The prprogram'semphasis on customer relations instructs students in the use of proper etiquette in a service economy.
Career Opportunities:
Automotive service technology students are trained for employment as automotive technicians and automotive parts and sales representatives. In addition, graduates of the program may also choose to further their studies in specialized, post-secondary training programs.**
