Horticulture and Landscape Gardening
The Horticulture program provides students with instruction in plant identification, flower arranging, basic greenhouse operation, garden maintenance, and retail and wholesale marketing.
Landscape Gardening includes instruction and hands-on training in growing and maintaining trees and shrubs, annual flowers and vegetable plants. Students also learn the use of the various types of tools and equipment, and structures unique to horticulture and landscaping. Students also receive instruction in landscape design and construction.
In addition, students from selected participating school districts in southern Chester County may participate in the Gardener’s Apprentice Program (GAP) at Longwood Gardens.
Career Opportunities:
Students in the program are prepared for employment in nurseries, greenhouses, flower shops, landscape firms and retail stores with floral and garden departments.
