TEACHER CENTER ZONES:

Make & Take Zone: The Make & Take Zone contains various project resources for teachers to create instructional materials for classrooms. Our many resources include but are not limited to:

• Construction Paper
• Poster Board
• Ellison Letters & Shapes
• Transparencies
• Magic Markers
• Paints
• Colored Pencils
• Ink Stamps
• Button Maker
• Lamination Machine
• Learning Resource Idea Books
• Project Samples also available

A photocopy machine is also available at the Teacher Center. Each copy is $0.10.

Order-By-Request Zone: The Order-by-Request Zone allows teachers the opportunity to order various services at a distance or for later onsite pickup or delivery. Teachers may order the services below by completing the proper form. Please email the Teacher Center at teachercenter@cciu.org for orderforms.

Teacher Center Order-by-Request Services include:

• Thermal Posters (Prints only one color)
• Full-Color Posters (Prints all colors)
• Lamination (For items not made in the Teacher Center)
• Media Duplication Services (Transfer VHS to DVD, Copy DVD to DVD, etc.)
• Personalized Name Plates

Please note that all services require at least one week lead-time.

Computers & Technology Zone: The Computers & Technology Zone offers both Mac and PC-platform workstations with great software for educators. Software available for your use includes but is not limited to:

• Boardmaker
• Print Explosion
• Microsoft Word
• Microsoft Excel
• Microsoft PowerPoint
• iPhoto

If you would like to learn more about any of these programs, please attend one of our workshops highlighting these programs. Workshops are available throughout the year. Library & Resource Zone: The Library & Resource Zone includes various books and technological resources available for teachers to borrow. There is no cost for Teacher Center Members to borrow these resources. Items may be borrowed for two weeks at a time.

The Library includes: an Autism Awareness Book Library, Digital Video Library (featuring subjects such as Math, Science, Language, Health, and more), and a Language Library (includes language software for English, French, German, & Spanish).

Other Resources available for teachers to borrow include: Classroom Performance System Clickers, MindStorm Lego Robotics Kit, Quantum Pad Learning System, and more items coming soon.

Fingerprinting Zone: The Fingerprinting Zone is an area dedicated to fingerprinting clients for FBI clearances for the Department of Education, Department of Public Welfare, and the Department of Banking. The Fingerprinting zone is open:

Monday – Thursday: 9:30 am – 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Friday: 9:30 am – 12:30 pm

All fingerprinting customers must register with Cogent Systems before coming to be fingerprinted. You may register with Cogent Systems at http://www.pa.cogentid.com or call 1-888-439-2486.

Please note the Fingerprinting Zone will be closed whenever the CCIU building is closed.

ADDITIONAL TEACHER CENTER RESOURCES

DISCOVERY EDUCATION STREAMING (formerly known as United Streaming) - CCIU has a contract with Discovery Schools that allows CCIU schools to access Discovery Education Streaming Video-On-Demand. The Discovery Education Streaming web site is available to all school districts within Chester County and includes over 5,000 videos and 19,000 digital images. Contact the Teacher Center at 484-237-5018 or email us at teachercenter@cciu.org for more information and to receive your passcode.

SMARTBOARD - Teachers also have the opportunity to experiment with an interactive white board (SmartBoard) within the center. Stop by and try the SMARTBoard, or register for a SMARTBoard workshop to learn the great features of this innovative educational tool. COSTS AND SCHEDULING

Usage Fee There is no charge to Chester County public school teachers for visiting the Teacher Center; however there are daily limits for certain materials. Please see the linked sheet for information in regard to daily limits.

There is a $25.00 materials fee per day per teacher for non-public school teachers and for non-Chester County public school teachers. The materials fee includes materials used within the quantities of the daily limits. Please click here for more information.

Gift certificates and non-member passbooks are available.

Non-Member Passbook The Teacher Center offers a Non-Member Passbook for the reduced price of $100. By purchasing the passbook, you will receive 5 entrance coupons (regularly priced at $25 each) to be used at the Teacher Center. This will be a savings of $5 per visit, or the equivalent of one FREE visit. Please see a Teacher Center Assistant for details and to purchase your passbook.

Friday: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

1st Saturday* of Each Month: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
