Chester County students who have been accepted to the 2008 PA Governor's Schools of Excellence.
High school sophomore and juniors in Pennsylvania who demonstrate artistic or academic talent are eligible to apply for residential programs that take place for five weeks during the summer on college campuses.
Tuition, room and board, classroom materials and program activities are provided by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for students selected to participate in the programs. Selection to the programs is competitive.
The programs are: The PA Governor's School for the Arts, the PA Governor's School for the Agricultural Sciences, the PA Governor's School for Global Entrepreneurship, the PA Governor's School for Health Care (juniors only may apply), the PA Governor's School for Information Technology (juniors only), The PA Governor's School for International Studies (juniors only), the PA Governor's School for the Sciences (juniors only), and the PA Governor's School for Teaching (juniors only).
The Governor's Schools offer talented students a living/learning community in which they may pursue their areas of interest in depth with master teachers who are also practitioners in their fields. The programs also provide college and career advice and leadership training. Many colleges and universities in Pennsylvania offer exclusive admissions scholarships to graduates of the Governor's Schools.
The Pennsylvania Governor's Schools of Excellence are sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The Pennsylvania Governor's School for Health Care is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts Application Deadline
The Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts (PGSA) applications are due at the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) as follows:
Personal Delivery Deadline - Thursday, January 8, 2009, no later than 3 p.m.
If no other alternative for delivery: Postmark Deadline - Monday, January 5, 2009. Applications may be mailed to the attention of Rebecca Givler, special events coordinator.
The CCIU #24 is located at 455 Boot Road, Downingtown, PA 19335.
- Applications may be dropped off at the receptionist's desk Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
- Please note: Office hours the week of December 22, 2008: The CCIU is closed Wednesday, December 24 and Thursday, December 25. The CCIU will be open on Friday, December 26, Monday, December 29; Tuesday, December 30, from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
