2009 Chester County Science Research Competition

Over 400 aspiring young scientists annually turn out for the Chester County Science Research Competition.

CCSRC Mission Statement

When:

  • Tuesday, February 24, 2009 (Grades 4 through 12)

Where: - United Sports Training Center, 1426 Marshallton-Thorndale Road, Downingtown, PA

The "Salk Competition Day Schedule" is as follows:

  • Arrival and Set Up - 8:30 am - 9:45 am
  • Judging - 10 am - 12:30 pm
  • Dismissal - 12:30 pm
  • Open House - 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
  • Breakdown and removal of projects - after 7:30 pm


Students compete in the following scientific categories:

  • Behavioral and Social Science
  • Biochemistry
  • Botany
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science
  • Consumer Science
  • Earth & Space Science
  • Engineering
  • Environmental Science
  • Mathematics
  • Medicine & Health
  • Microbiology
  • Physics
  • Zoology
  • Team

Students are judged in categories at seven levels:

  • Level A - 12th grade students
  • Level B - 11th grade students
  • Level C - 10th grade students
  • Level D - 9th grade students
  • Level E - 6th, 7th, & 8th grade students
  • Level F - 4th & 5th grade students
  • Team Projects - 4th through 12th grade students


Applications will only be accepted from participating schools where the CCSRC School Coordinator has met all the necessary requirements. All projects and related questions should be directed to your CCSRC School Coordinator.

Homeschool students who live in Chester County may participate in the Chester County Science Research Competition through the Chester County Homeschool Association. Please contact Margaret Greene via e-mail or by calling 610-917-1062.
