CCIU Schools
CCIU operates five schools on behalf of Chester County's 12 public school districts. CCIU specializes in creating and delivering educational programs for career-minded students, students with disabilities, and students for whom a traditional educational setting is not working.
Opening in September 2008
The Chester County Technical College High School is a joint venture of the Chester County Intermediate Unit and Delware County Communnity College. As such, the Technical College High School will offer career and technical programs for high school students and associate degree programs to college students. The Chester County Technical College will feature three distinct yet interrelated programs of study:
- traditional career and technical programs such as the ones now offered at the Center for Arts & Technology
- associate degree programs from Delaware County Community College
- dual-enrollment programs that blend high school programs with for-credit college courses
CCIU Schools
- Center for Arts & Technology: A career and technical public high school specializing in preparing students for the world of work.
- Chester County High School: A high school for self-motivated students who have withdrawn from high school and who now wish to return to school and earn their high school diploma.
- Chester County Middle College High School: A school designed for students who are academically able; yet whose needs are not met in a traditional high school. Students are given a second chance to achieve academic success, explore career interests, and to attend college classes while still in high school.
- The Child & Career Development Center: A comprehensive k-12 school for students with severe disabilities.
Cyber schools and virtual programs
- The 21st Century Cyber Charter School* is a school where full-time Pennsylvania students in grades six through 12 take classes over the Internet. The 21st Century Cyber Charter School is operated jointly by the Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery County Intermediate Units on behalf of their member school districts.
- The Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA) offers a wide range of computer-based courses that students take over the Internet. Students may complete their courses from a school-based classroom, computer lab, home or other locations with Internet access. The Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA) was formed by the cooperative efforts of the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) and the 21st Century Cyber Charter School (21CCCS), in order to provide schools the resources and flexibility to better serve their students.
