2008 - 09 CCIU Organizational Goals
Each July the CCIU Board of Directors sets goals for the organization for the upcoming year. The purpose of establishing goals is to move the intermediate unit forward and to provide staff with focus as we work together to provide a unified, seamless system of education in Chester County. Listed below are the goals approved on for the 2008 - 09 school year:
- Research and establish an "Innovation Institute" to assist educators in developing instructional strategies to better prepare students for the 21st Century Global Society.
- Conduct a staffing, enrollment, and facilities analysis of the following CCIU programs for the purpose of assessing their efficiency and financial viability:
- Occupational Education
- CCAEP (CASE)/Steps
- Chester County High School
- Choices
- Child and Career Development Center
- Head Start
- Devereux 1306 students, with a possibility of developing internal CCIU programs for these students
- Establish and implement initiatives for the IU and districts to meet the staff development requirements for paraprofessionals mandated by new Chapter 14 Regulations.
- Continue to provide Act 1 information for school districts, as they need the data. Continue to manage within the parameters of act 1 in all IU programs.
- Finalize and complete the construction of Chester County Technical College High School.
- Establish an enrollment growth figure of five percent (+5%) growth for CTE students.
- Complete the K-12 curriculum scope and sequence for all CCIU schools and programs in English/language arts, math and science (continuation of 2007-08 goal).
- Reduce energy use by five percent (-5%) in every IU facility.
- Investigate going paperless – research and pilot a paperless process for all CCIU forms.
- Finalize Chester County Intermediate Unit’s Strategic Plan and begin to implement the 2009-2014 CCIU Strategic Plan.
- Research and pilot new procedures and practices for interviewing and selecting staff.
