CCIU employees now able to enjoy secure, around-the-clock access to wage and salary data

Downingtown, PA – A quick registration process is all it takes for Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) employees to gain 24/7 access to their pay data thanks to iPay.

As part of CCIU’s paperless initiative begun in July 2008, employee’s pay statements are now available online to all employees. iPay statements are beneficial on many levels to both the intermediate unit as an organization and its employees, according to Maureen Linahan, CCIU compensation and labor relations manager.

For exaple, iPay statements allow employees to access copies of pay statements and W-2 forms directly from the website.

“Employees will no longer have to call payroll to request W-2 forms or pay statements for instances such as applying for a mortgage,” said Maureen Linahan. “Employees will no longer need to worry about waiting for a request to be filled for a W-2 form or a pay statement in the instance of a time-sensitive situation (for instance, you last-minute tax-filers). This feature will also benefit payroll staff by allowing them to tend to other issues since employees are able to access their own information.”

Changes can also be made to a real-time, online W-4 form, printed out, signed, and submitted to payroll for processing.

iPay statements also help employees with their personal organization.

“Instead of filling up drawers with old pay statements or misplacing them, all of the information will be available to employees in once place for up to three years,” said Linahan.

This is just one of CCIU’s paperless initiatives; however, it is expected to have a large impact.

“We have several projects to ‘go paperless’ within the human resources and payroll departments,” said Linahan. “However, iPay impacts the intermediate unit as a whole because everyone receives a paycheck.”

Once registered for iPay, employees who are on direct deposit can choose to receive exclusively online pay statements. During the 2009-10 school year, paper pay statements will be phased out for those on direct deposit with the hopes of the payday process one day becoming completely paperless.

“Right now, 70% of the intermediate unit is on direct deposit and we would like the other 30% to make the switch as well,” said Linahan. “With direct deposit, if you are unable to get to the bank to deposit or cash your check, or if you cannot get to the intermediate unit due to inclement weather, the money is automatically deposited in your account on pay day.”

iPay will also reduce paper and postage costs the CCIU incurs through mailing a substantial number of employee paychecks. It also eliminates the possibility of checks getting lost in the mail.

If constant access to pay statements, W-2 forms, and W-4 forms, while simultaneously helping the environment by reducing paper usage has not yet caught your attention, iPay also offers the option for email notification when a new pay statement becomes available, salary and hourly paycheck calculators, and 401 (k) and employee stock option calculators, among many other perks.
