The Early Care and Education Center provides a nurturing environment in which infants, toddlers and preschool children play, learn and develop. This program is located at the Educational Service Center at 455 Boot Road in Downingtown, and operates year round, from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Early Care and Education Provider Training Program

This program is an initiative to improve the quality of care for Chester County children by offering training, support, and mentoring to Chester County early care and education providers. It is available for child care centers, groups, or family day care homes, with an outreach to providers offering unregulated care.
Various workshop topics are offered. In addition, workshop trainings are customized for providers requesting on-site training.

Education and Training Services for Adjudicated Youth/Residential Treatment Facility

This service provides professional staff, curriculum and educational specialists for programs that service court adjudicated youth. Basic academic instruction in all major subject areas can be provided as well as reading, physical education, driver education, related arts and special education. Supervisors and fully certified regular and special education staff are assigned to deliver educational programs. Classes are limited to a maximum of twelve (12) students per teacher. Instructional aides are also provided as needed.

The Emotional Support program provides academic and emotional support for students who are seriously, emotionally disturbed. Students receive instructional and emotional support to improve social and behavioral skills, group interaction skills, improvement of self-esteem and remediation in planned courses. Classes are provided for students in grades K-12.
The primary goal is to teach appropriate social skills, so that students are able to function appropriately in an academic and social setting.

Students in CCIU's English as a Second Language (ESL) program are provided with instructional services to assist them in their academic subjects, to develop their ability to read, write and speak English and to adjust to the social and academic demands of learning in an English-speaking classroom.
Even Start

The Even Start program is a family literacy program. Services include adult education, early childhood education, parenting education, and Parent And Child Together (PACT) activities. Services are provided through a combination of center-based and home-based components. A family unit qualifies for Even Start services if there is a child between the ages of birth and eight years and a parent eligible for adult basic education. These services are offered in the Avon Grove and Kennett Consolidated School Districts only.
