The
Career Development Center is a center-based, pre-vocational program in
life skills and learning
support that provides learning experiences for students in a highly structured,
staff-intensive environment. Students with severe learning disabilities,
physical handicaps, mild emotional disturbances and mild to moderate mental
retardation can be successful in this pre-vocational program.
Basic
academic, life and pre-vocational skills are taught in an integrated program
for
students, ages 14 to 21 years old. Academic and pre-vocational skills
are tailored to student abilities and interests as determined by an IEP
team. Emphasis is placed on developing functional skills ranging
from basic survival and self-help skills to higher level reading and math
skills related to the student's pre-vocational area.

student's
program follows the mandate of his/her IEP as designed to meet local district
high school graduation requirements. In addition to the academic

The primary
