In
the school-age program, the Speech/Language program provides specialized
instruction as
mandated on the student's individual
education plan. Speech/language clinicians assist students in remediating
or compensating for speech and language deficits that affect the student's
educational process. Regular educators are provided with strategies
for working with students with speech/language deficits.
In
the early intervention program, Speech/Language Therapy provides specialized
instruction
to children, ages three to five, who exhibit
significant delays in the areas of speech and/or language development. Parents
are provided with strategies, interventions and information to support their
child's progress.
In addition to speech/language support as specialized
instruction, speech and language evaluations are available as a separate
service, and include the evaluation and a written report. Follow-up consultation
and participation in special education program planning can also be provided.
