Q. What hours am I required to be online?
A: The benefit of online learning is that it is flexible enough to work on your schedule. There is no set school-day. With that said, you will need to check Genius each day, Monday – Friday, to ensure you receive important messages from your teachers. Additionally, you will need to pace yourself appropriately to ensure that you complete all course units and assignments within the given session. If you want to work in the afternoons you can! If you want to work a couple longer days and have a longer weekend you can!
Q: Am I still able to participate in my school district’s sports and activities?
A: Yes! One of the key benefits of BVA versus a cyber charter school is the fact that you are still a member of the student body at your public school district. As such, you have the ability to play sports, join clubs, play music or participate in anything else your physical school might offer.
A: Students may register through their school guidance office or on their own by contacting BVA at 484-237-5350 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. However, before enrolling, students need to discuss this option with their school guidance counselors to determine the appropriateness of the course and their school's credit acceptance policy.Registration is ongoing throughout the school year. However, space in each course is limited. Regardless of the start date in a course, students are required to complete their course work by the end of the semester.
Q: Who may apply?
A: The Brandywine Virtual Academy is available to all secondary students residing in Pennsylvania, as well as non-resident students who receive the approval of their school district of residence.
Q: What is the tuition?
Q: What is the BVA add/drop policy?
A: Students may drop or withdraw from a course within the first twenty (20) school days of submitting their registration. In the case of a private-pay registration (where the parent or student is paying for the course), it is the responsibility of the student or parent to contact BVA in writing to request that a course be dropped. If a student withdraws from a course more than twenty (20) business days from registration, they will be responsible for the full cost of the course. In the case of summer courses, students have only ten (10) days.
A: Any laptop or desktop computer with a web browser will work. Due to the nature of online learning, smartphones and tablets are often not suitable based on screen size and compatibility. A broadband connection (cable, DSL, FIOS) is needed to allow for a more satisfying experience for the student.
