Learning Support Programs

Learning Support - Child Development Center


Learning support programs provide individualized learning experiences for students, ages five through 21 years old, who have a chronic condition of presumed neurological origin in oral expression, written expression, basic reading skills, reading comprehension, mathematical calculation and mathematical reasoning.  Specially designed instruction develops functional skills ranging from survival and self-help to basic academic skills.

The primary goal is to increase cognitive and academic achievement and to increase basic interpersonal skills.

Learning Support Program (Technical College High Schools)
The learning support program provides academic support services for high school students participating in Career and Technical programs. The level of intervention is based upon individual student needs.

The primary goal of this program is to integrate the academic, social, and behavioral skills necessary for students to be successful in their community and choice of post-secondary outcomes.

Program features:
  • Academic support within the technical programs
  • Transition planning
  • Communication with sending school team
  • Preparation and support for technical and academic assessments
  • Comprehensive career assessments

Students are instructed in the following areas:


Multisensory approaches
Remedial academic skills Social and behavioral skills
State mandated curricula for vocational education
Curricula aligned with state standards
Basic communication skills
Critical thinking and problem solving

Related services not including the basic program cost but available at an additional cost include:


Speech and language therapy
Occupational therapy
Physical therapy
