Listening as Leadership | Act 45

Join Andy Danilchick for this valuable program and become empowered to actively "listen to" and identify leadership that will build leadership capacity within districts, unite staff around a common mission and vision and ultimately increase student achievement.

This program uses an emotional intelligence and a distributed leadership framework to build this empowerment. The emotional intelligence (Goleman, 1996) framework enables the development of a resonant leadership approach and skills within the four main Emotional Intelligence constructs: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management. The listening as a framework for leadership enables opportunities for greater understanding of process of leadership, teaching, and learning throughout a district through the social awareness construct.

Andy has coached teachers and administrators and has conducted many professional development sessions on emotional intelligence. He has been a classroom teacher and teacher educator for over 15 years. He is currently a lecturer and Humanities Strand Leader at the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania. He is al editor of the Perspective on Urban Education journal.
