Through a partnership between Chester County Intermediate Unit and Neumann University, you can now pursue this fully online endorsement.
This program prepares teachers and other certified school personnel to develop the skills and proficiency required to educate the increasing number of students in today’s schools being diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The program provides appropriate assessment and research-based strategies with an emphasis on skill development and behavioral modification for students of all ages who have been diagnosed on the autism spectrum.
Neumann University is hosting a Summer Open House on Wednesday, June 7th for those interested in our graduate programs and endorsements. Drop in any time between 5 pm -7 pm to speak with faculty, admissions, and financial aid counselors. Dinner is also provided!

SPEC 547 Foundations of Autism Spectrum Disorders
This 3 credit course is designed for students to gain an understanding of the philosophical, historical, and legal foundations of early intervention of autism, characteristics and etiology of autism, and assessment and identification of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. This course will include a field experience in classrooms serving students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

SPEC 549 Instructional Strategies and Curriculum for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders
This 3 credit course is designed for students to gain an understanding of educational environments, instructional activities, and teaching methods which prove effective for teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. This course will include a field experience in classrooms serving students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

SPEC 550 Assessment and Instructional Planning for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders
This 3 credit course is designed for students to gain an understanding of assessment approaches and instructional planning for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Techniques include functional behavioral analysis, applied behavior analysis, and accommodations and adaptations to state- and district-wide assessments. This course will include a field experience in classrooms serving students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

SPEC 551 Collaborative Relationships for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders
This 3 credit course is designed for students to gain an understanding of a variety of collaborative relationships needed for successful education of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. These collaborative relationships include: families of ASD students, school personnel, interdisciplinary collaboration, and interagency collaboration. The course will include service delivery formats, communication, and transition. This course will include a field experience in collaborative settings and with organizations serving students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
