  • Facilitated by Dr. Ortiz, Professor of Psychology at St. John's University

This workshop will cover current research on language, cognitive, and academic development, applying it to evaluation within a comprehensive, research-based framework. Participants will learn step-by-step procedures for measuring abilities, guidelines for evaluating test scores' validity, and rules for selecting and using scores in English vs. native language. Topics include first and second language acquisition, understanding testing bias, establishing test score validity, and using tools like the Culture-Language Interpretive Matrix (C-LIM) for evaluation. This training equips practitioners with defensible evaluation practices for English learners at all proficiency levels.
