Continuing Professional Education

  • Continuing professional education is important in Pennsylvania.

    Act 48 of 1999 requires all Pennsylvania educators holding Pennsylvania public school certification including Instructional I and II, Educational Specialist I and II, Administrative, Supervisory, Letters of Eligibility and all vocational certificates to participate in ongoing professional education.

    The Chester County Intermediate Unit is proud to be a PDE-approved provider of Act 48 and continuing professional education programs (CPE).

Earn Act 48

  • Hourly workshops offer relevant professional learning to meet educators' needs.  CCIU has a large selection of workshops for all educational audiences on various topics, themes and strands.

Earn CPE

  • Continuing Professional Education (CPE)

    This program provides educators with undergraduate and graduate-level courses for continuing professional education (CPE) credit. The Chester County Continuing Professional Education Council reviews and recommends course proposals to the Pennsylvania Department of Education for accreditation. CPE course credits may be applied toward Act 48 requirements or Instructional II certification.

  • Act 48 of 1999 requires all Pennsylvania educators holding Pennsylvania public school certification including Instructional I and II, Educational Specialist I and II, Administrative, Supervisory, Letters of Eligibility and all vocational certificates to participate in ongoing professional education. To ensure all requirements are being met, it is important to remain up-to-date in the Pennsylvania Department of Education's Record Management System.
