The Chester County Intermediate Unit Practical Nursing Program offers students a choice of the following program schedules, allowing students to select an option that works best for their needs:
1) Full-day, five days per week
For this option, classes meet Monday through Friday at the Brandywine Campus. Class/clinical times vary between the hours of 7:00 AM-3:00 PM depending upon class level and clinical experience.
2) Full-day, four days per week
This option is offered only at the West Grove Campus. Classes meet four days per week (no Saturday or Sunday). Class/clinical days of the week will be Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday unless clinical site availability necessitates a change. Students will be notified in advance. Class/clinical times vary between the hours of 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM depending upon class level and clinical experience.
3) Part-time, four evenings per week
For the part-time option, Level I classes/clinical times will be held from 5:30 to 10:30 PM every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. For Level II, III, and IV, students will commit to a clinical start time of 3 PM (3-10:30 PM) six (6) days a month. Start time for the remaining days will be 5:30 PM.
Clinical experience is concurrent and sequential with classroom instruction through the cooperation of local clinical site affiliation agreements held with the following sites amongst others: Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital, Pocopson Home, Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital, Brandywine Hospital, Neighborhood Health Agencies, Department of Veterans Administration Medical Center, Kendal Crosslands and community clinical care experiences. Facilities represent various levels of care including acute care, sub-acute care, skilled care, home care and community based experiences.
