As of Friday, June 5, per the Governor's directive, Chester County will be within the yellow phase and PennDOT has provided approval to reopen third-party testing centers.
Beginning Friday, June 5 the CCIU Driver Testing Centers will reopen its doors and will begin on-the-road driver exams. Appointments are now being taken.
Health and safety precautions will be in place to follow the guidelines outlined by the CDC, including the requirement that all testing drivers wear a mask throughout the full exam. If you do not have a mask available, one will be provided.

The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) has been certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDot) as an approved third-party Driver Testing Center and now offers two additional on-the-road driver examination centers in Chester County.
For drivers over 18 years of age, you must have a valid Learner’s Permit in order to test.
For drivers under the age of 18 years of age, you must be a minimum of 16 years of age, have held a valid Learner’s Permit for a minimum of 6 months and have completed a minimum of 65 hours of adult-supervised driving.
When visiting a Driver License Center to take your road test, please be sure to bring the following items with you:
- Your valid learner's permit
- Parent or Guardian Certification Form DL-180C, if applicant is under 18 years of age
- Proof of vehicle insurance
- Proof of vehicle registration
- Accompanying driver's valid driver's license
Reopening Discount Rate: Schedule and pay for your test from now until July 5, and you will receive $20.20 off your test. Please note: your test can be scheduled for a date that is after July 5. As long as it is scheduled and paid for between now and July 5, you will receive the discount. (This discount does not apply to those already receiving the Driver Education Online Course and Behind-the-Wheel Training discount shown below.)

Retest Rate (at our facility only): $60
Up to one week prior to scheduled appointment: No Fee
Within three to six days of scheduled appointment: $25
Two days from scheduled appointment: $100

*Due to state scheduling requirements, testing appointments must be requested at least two full Driver Testing Center business days (Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday) in advance.
