CCIU's Summer Career Academies provide a wide range of enrichment and career exploration opportunities to students during the summer. One-week academies at school-based and off-site locations are held in June and July for rising 6th through rising 9th graders. Each academy addresses specific interests and skills. Academies are funded through student tuition.
The Summer Career Academies will run on the following schedule:Week of June 23, 2025 - TCHS Pennock's BridgeWeek of July 7, 2025 - TCHS PickeringWeeks of July 14, 2025, and July 21, 2025 - TCHS BrandywineRegistration opens January 23, 2025, at 8:00 p.m.
Culinary Camp

Spice up your summer with our Culinary Camp. With our experienced instructors, you’ll explore the secrets of cooking and receive valuable insights into the culinary arts. Our Culinary Camp teaches campers all the necessary techniques needed to follow recipes, prep food and cook delicious dishes. Activities include orientation to equipment use, baking through good techniques, preparation in cooking and presentation, and more!
Career Academies
Academy | Description |

Aerospace Exploration | An introduction to aerodynamics, astrodynamics, robotics, propulsion systems, and aircraft design, as well as an in-depth study of structures and materials. |
Animal Science | Explore the amazing world of animal science. This is for the animal enthusiast who may be considering a future working with animals. Learn the health care, grooming, physiology, and training of large and small animals. |
Commercial & Graphic Arts | Learn the basics of design, color theory, page layout, lettering and production skills to create a portfolio of work using computer graphic design skills. |
Tech Innovators | Technology careers are in high-demand and changing rapidly. Computer networking and programming are highly desirable skills that translate into a lifetime of a job you love. This program introduces computer science and troubleshooting. |
Cosmetology | Explore the world of beauty by learning the latest, hair, skin and nail trends in a salon setting using of the tools of trade. Learn step-by-step manis, pedis, facials and hair styles. An introduction to careers in cosmetology and barbering will also be discussed. |
Criminal Investigation | Learn to conduct surveillance operations, finger print and gathering evidence. Enhance your understanding and gain a foundation for a possible career in the criminal sciences and emergency management. If you have good judgment and want to protect and serve, write yourself a ticket for success and explore this program. |
Aspiring Teachers | Have you considered becoming a teacher or childcare provider? Working well with children can lead to a career in education. Learn what teachers learn. Create and teach a lesson plan. Hear from experienced teachers who inspire others. |
Electronics & Robotics | Working in pairs, build a robot utilizing LEGO Mindstorm kits. Program your robot to move, react, and make sounds to solve challenges. Investigate electronic components, including circuits, wiring, and more. |
Tomorrow's Millionaires | This entrepreneurial and innovative program focuses on creating new products or business or social ventures that can help change the world. Those with an aptitude for providing a financially secure future for themselves and others will find this program to be a solid investment (Brandywine Campus only). |
Journey Into Medicine | Do you like helping others and have thought of going into a health-related career? If you answered yes, you should attend this health careers camp which introduces you to a variety of health careers. Participants will also be CPR Certified. |
You Can Fix It | Are you interested in learning how to fix things on your own? In this program you will learn the basics of carpentry, electrical, plumbing skills, and automotive repairs. Using the tools of the trade, master the skills of contracting and basic automotive skills in fun hands-on activities. |

Attendance Policy
Participants should make every effort to attend each day. Participants are expected to arrive for class at the indicated time. No allowance will be made for vacations or illness. If a student is unable to attend all sessions, no money will be refunded.

Behavior Policy
Due to the voluntary nature of the summer career academies, it is expected that students’ behavior will not require disciplinary intervention. Students will risk being dismissed if their behavior disrupts the program, does not follow instructor directives, and/or affects other participants. Participants who are referred to the coordinator for discipline may be dismissed from the program. If a student is dismissed from the program for discipline issues, no refund will be issued.

Volunteer Policy
The Summer Career Academies (SCA) will consider students currently enrolled in a relevant CCIU technical program. SCA typically does not utilize another outside/student volunteers. Volunteers must be approved in advance of the start of the session by Program Coordinator and/or Program Director. All parties should understand that the recruitment of volunteers is utilized to enhance and support the instructor's lead and provide support through creative and interesting tasks and roles, and well-planned projects. SCA volunteers must have a letter of recommendation from the instructor and/or school principal. SCA reserves the right to refuse to volunteer status based on the needs of the program or where they feel effective use will not be made of their skills and abilities or where it appears the placement may be unsafe or unsuitable.
