K-21 Student Programs & Services

  • The Chester County Intermediate Unit offers the following supports for students and families outside of the traditional school setting

  • Homebound Instruction Academic instruction is provided when a student is medically excused from compulsory attendance by a licensed medical professional for a temporary physical or mental illness.
  • Instruction Conducted in the Home Unlike Homebound Instruction, Instruction Conducted in the Home is a recognized special education placement option and must be decided upon by an IEP team prior to the initiation of these services. When a student is unable to access the educational services outlined in their IEP and they require special education programming outside of a school setting, the CCIU can offer comprehensive services including case management, academic instruction, social skills training, self-help skills, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, hearing and vision services, psychological services and more.
  • Perfect Attendant Robotic real-time video conferencing into actual school and classroom. Perfect Attendant is an innovative solution for students in grades K-12 that are in a restricted setting, allowing them full access to their comprehensive educational program as well as to build and maintain peer relationships.
