Academic & Career Counseling

  • Our school counseling services are designed to provide comprehensive support and guidance to students as they navigate their educational journeys. Our experienced and dedicated counselors are committed to fostering holistic development by empowering students to achieve their academic goals, nurture their personal growth and guide them towards their career path. Through individualized counseling sessions, we address a wide range of academic, personal/social and career related challenges, offering tailored strategies to enhance study skills, time management and goal setting. We also provide a safe and confidential space for students to discuss their concerns, whether related to academics, social interactions or emotional well-being. Our collaborative approach involves working closely with teachers, parents and school staff to create a cohesive support network that promotes student success. By fostering a positive and inclusive environment, we aim to equip students with the tools they need to thrive academically and emotionally, setting them on a path towards a successful and fulfilling future.

Ms. Critelli graduated with a Master of Science in school counseling from the University of Scranton. Additionally, she has a bachelor's degree in psychology from Coastal Carolina University. She has worked with students and families for 15 years and is so excited to be a part of the Pickering family! Outside of work she enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

For the 2023-24 school year, Ms. Critelli supports students in the following programs: Cosmetology, Early Childhood, Digital Media, Auto Service, Auto Collision and Culinary.

Ms. McKay is so excited to join the TCHS Pickering family as one of your School Counselors this year. She has worked at TCHS for the past seven years in a variety of roles - some of those years as an instructional assistant in culinary, some of those years as a project coordinator and now as your school counselor. Prior to working in schools, she worked as a social worker for children in foster care. Supporting children and their families has always been her passion, and she is looking forward to working with all of you!

Outside of work she loves spending time with her two energetic and hilarious sons, Frankie (5) & Wyatt (3). They enjoy all things related to cars, trains, board games, dinosaurs, Pokémon and penguins. Ms. McKay is a huge baseball fan, specifically the Phillies and the Minnesota Twins (Kirby Puckett will always be her favorite player). In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors, reading, trying new restaurants and visiting family on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

For the 2023-24 school year, Ms. McKay will be supporting the following programs: Criminal Justice, Health Career Pathways, Commercial Graphic Arts, Electrical Occupations and Carpentry.
