About Us

  • The Unionville-Chadds Ford Virtual Academy was formed to provide students living within the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District (UCFSD) with the resources and flexibility to learn online. It is managed and operated in partnership with the Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA), a program of the Chester County Intermediate Unit, but the credits align with UCFSD. As such, a student graduating from UCFVA will earn their diploma from Unionville-Chadds Ford School District.

Our BVA Partner

  • The Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA) was established by the Chester County Intermediate Unit more than a dozen years ago to support districts that wish to provide their students with a high-quality, personalized online learning experience.

BVA enables students to learn at their own pace, take ownership of their success, receive an education that is customized to their unique learning style and be personally supported all along the way!

Learning Platforms

  • UCFVA works together with multiple online platform vendors to provide learning experiences for every style of learner, including both text-based and video-based options. Additionally, students can access their courses across platforms through a single sign-on learning management system (LMS).

Classes Offered

  • UCFVA offers over 200 courses from grades K-12 that students can complete from a school-based classroom, computer lab, home or other location with internet access. The courses are developed and taught by locally based, PA-certified teachers. In addition, UCFVA's curriculum, unlike national providers, includes and assesses PA state standards. Thus, UCFVA delivers the same high-quality instruction found in neighborhood schools.

A variety of courses and academic levels are available, including NCAA-approved, Honors and AP. Students may work at their own pace as long as they meet deadlines. Short-term, skill-building and remedial coursework is also available.

Student Supports

  • UCFVA has multiple supports in place to help students and their families succeed in the online learning environment, including designated student support liaisons, multiple communication channels for direct contact with teachers and liaisons and the virtual office. Additionally, synchronous support is available for students finding the transition to online learning to be difficult. In the end, while support is always available, UCFVA students learn to advocate for themselves and own their learning.
