  • CCIU has developed a user-friendly web application for educators that provides a custom, convenient platform for charting and tracking English Learners’ growth throughout their educational journey.   

    Through the English Learner Success App (ELSA) educators can upload DRC WIDA ACCESS test scores and PIMS demographic data that will assist local education agencies across the commonwealth with:  

    •  Identifying teaching and building trends 
    •  Remedying academic deficits in a timely manner 
    •  Tracking students’ growth and attainment timelines 

    ELSA uses the English Language Growth and Attainment formula published in the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Future Ready Index Technical Appendix to calculate growth targets and attainment.

    ELSA is an allowable use of Title III funds.

  • The English Learner Success App (ELSA), created by the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU), has advanced data-analysis capabilities for our English Learners significantly. The individual growth targets set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Education were nearly impossible to identify on our own. ELSA provides this data to us in a timely and user-friendly manner, which affords us more time to serve our ELs socially, emotionally, and academically. During the development and enhancement process, the CCIU provided outstanding customer service by responding to requests and making the entire interface very easy to navigate. Overall, we are very thankful to have ELSA and look forward to using it indefinitely.
