    This fun coding and robotics session will turn ideas into adventures. Students will program Dash and Dot to complete missions to overcome obstacles and solve coding challenges while having a blast.

    Students will learn and/or build on their 3D modeling and design skills. Students will pick from a variety of challenges to guide their learning with the guidance of STEM Saturdays facilitators. By the end of this session, students will be able to use a 3D printer as a problem-solving tool and prototyping solution.

    Come and build your very own robot companion! You supply the imagination, and we supply the robotic parts, building materials and mentoring to bring your ideas to life. Each student gets to bring their new robot home! You will receive an assortment of laser cut robot construction parts, servo motors, control knobs, LEDs and a battery pack. These can be put together to make a robot that can swivel and move on command.

    See Like a Designer, Think Like an Engineer:

    In Part I, students will be introduced to the ROK Blocks STEM system and become familiar with the different components located within the system while discovering how each component can be used to design and engineer new things. Students will then discover there are many different ways to solve a problem and anyone can contribute to a design. By the end of this Saturday, students will create and improve a design after learning some technical information to become comfortable with the Rokenbok construction system.

    In Part II, students will become familiarized with the techniques and specific construction elements used to create designs that are stable and strong. Students will become familiar with how Rokenbok components can be used to create movement. Students will learn how to apply essential steps in a design & engineering process (analyze, design, prototype, test, and refine) to produce creative, collaborative solutions to a handful of STEM challenges. NOTE: You do not need to take Part I to take Part II.

    Collaboration, creativity, and competition reign supreme in the third installment of STEM Saturday’s Rokenbok design challenges. This time, students must work together to create the ultimate machine for winning the first BlastBall STEM Saturday tournament. Join us for a morning of fun, competition, and learning as we continue to think like designers and see like engineers. Participants should have experienced Rokenbok Part I and II.
