The school counselor monitors academic progress and credit completion. Progress reports are sent home quarterly. Grades can be monitored on a daily basis through PowerSchool. All parents and guardians, as well as students, receive a letter from the guidance department at the beginning of the school year with a username, password and instructions for accessing grades. Please email the guidance secretary if you have misplaced your account information.
School counselors are available to assist students with academic and career challenges. Students remain with the same counselor until graduation. Our counselors also serve as liaisons between teachers and parents.School Counselors

Student FAQs
-
What are my options for attending TCHS?
TCHS will be offering a hybrid and online option to students to begin the 2020-21 school year. A student’s participation in either a hybrid or online option will be dependent upon the reopening plans and policies of their sending school district. These options will be reassessed, as more information becomes available, in consultation with the Chester County Health Department.
-
What does the hybrid option look like?
Students will either be scheduled to attend TCHS in-person for an AM or PM time slot on prearranged days, depending on their sending school district, their program and the overall number of students in the building at a given time. On days that a student does not attend TCHS in-person, the student will participate in virtual instruction. For more information, please reach out to your high school administrative team about what your schedule might look like if you select this option.
-
If I select the hybrid option, how will I be transported to TCHS?
TCHS is working to accommodate the specific needs of each school district’s reopening plan and schedule. Since your sending school district is responsible for coordinating your transportation to TCHS, please reach out to your high school administrative team for more information about your transportation options.
-
Will I have to wear a mask if I attend TCHS in-person using the hybrid model?
Yes, face coverings will be required for students and staff. Face coverings must be worn at all times in the hallways, classrooms, public spaces and when social distancing is not possible in compliance with guidance and directives from the Chester County Health Department and the state. Masks must be readily available to be put on when students are working in the lab and in hands-on situations. TCHS will have face shields and masks available for students and staff, but the expectation is that all students should come prepared with their own face coverings.
-
What is a health screening and why is it required each day if I attend TCHS in-person using the hybrid model?
In order to help protect our students and staff, all students and staff should conduct a daily self-screening before coming to school. This will involve monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms and recent exposure to someone diagnosed with COVID-19. Parents and students have a responsibility to monitor their health status to help protect other students and staff. Educational resources will be available through TCHS to help identify symptoms and determine whether a student should attend TCHS in-person based on those symptoms.
-
Will I receive a notification if someone at the school has COVID-19?
Should a student or staff member test positive for COVID-19, the CCIU will send an email to the staff and families of the impacted building only indicating a potential exposure. It is a violation of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to indicate the name of the individual. You will be contacted by the Chester County Health Department (CCHD) if you are found to have been in close contact with the individual (less than 6 feet of distance for a period of time more than 15 minutes, regardless of face coverings). It is the responsibility of the CCHD to make these notifications and we ask that you cooperate with all contact tracing efforts.
-
What does the virtual option look like?
Students selecting the virtual option will attend TCHS online 5 days a week utilizing both synchronous and asynchronous instruction. For more information, please reach out to your high school administrative team about what your schedule might look like if you select this option.
-
What happens if I change my mind about whether I want to do the hybrid or virtual option, can I change my selection?
We understand that plans change! As a result, students will have the ability to change their instructional delivery model at any time. To change your delivery model, please contact your TCHS administrative team and your sending school administrative team as soon as possible.
-
What is TCHS doing to help keep students and staff safe while in the building?
TCHS has implemented a wide variety of policies aimed at helping to keep students and staff safe. These policies include reducing and staggering schedules to limit the number of people in the building, requiring that students perform health screening checks before coming into school each day, having everyone wear a mask, rearranging our program spaces to encourage social distancing and more! For more information regarding the CCIU’s policies and protocols, please read the official 2020-21 Health & Safety plan.
-
Do I need to purchase a uniform?
Career uniforms are an important part of the culture of professionalism and excellence at TCHS. However, due to the current circumstances caused by COVID-19, TCHS will be utilizing a flexible uniform policy through the beginning of the 2020-21 school year. Students who already have a uniform are encouraged to wear their uniform but are not required to do so. TCHS encourages all families to purchase a uniform when they are able to, as this policy will be reexamined as the school year progresses.
-
What happens if I am planning to take a vacation or trip out-of-state after I start at TCHS?
As you make vacation or travel plans throughout the school year, please be aware the Governor and PA Department of Health are recommending PA residents who travel to a list of 20 states to self-quarantine for 14 days upon returning to PA. For a complete list of states on this list, please visit the Department of Health’s website. If you travel to any of these states and therefore need to quarantine upon your return to Pennsylvania, you must notify your TCHS administrative team so that your student can receive virtual instruction during the 14 days quarantine period upon your return.
