    Tracy Boswell  

    Tracy Boswell

    My name is Tracy Boswell, and I teach High School English at Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA). I have been teaching at BVA for two and a half years, however I have also taught at Miami Palmetto Senior High School, Miami Dade College and Delaware County Community College. I have seven years of experience teaching online, and an English 7-12 teaching certification. Over the years, I have enjoyed making connections with students that have chosen our program and need and appreciate access to our unique services.

    If I could spend all day learning more about my content area, I would focus on African/African American Literature, Contemporary American Literature and 18th Century British Literature. One thing students might find interesting about me is that I sang in the opera, Turandot, with the Greater Miami Opera, when I was in 6th grade.

    My name is Laura Harris and I am an English levels III and IV teacher at Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA). I have been teaching at BVA for two and a half years, however I also taught at Advent Christian Preschool. I have two and a half years of experience teaching online as well as six teaching certifications including: Elementary K-6, English 7-12, General Science 7-12, Library Science PK-12, Health PK-12 and Family and Consumer Science 7-12.

    I enjoy the many different students we are able to serve who, for whatever reason, are unable to be in a brick-and-mortar classroom setting.

    If I could spend all day learning more about my content area, I would focus on developing methods to assist struggling readers, finding ways to make learning relevant to students’ lives and vetting new books for required reading. One thing students might find interesting about me is that I have jumped out of an airplane at 13,500 feet multiple times!

    My name is Jennifer Lydon and I am a Special Education English teacher here at Brandywine Virtual Academy/Philadelphia Virtual Academy (BVA/PVA). I have been teaching at BVA/PVA for three years, but I have also taught at Technical College High School (TCHS) Pickering, The Pathway School and Gillespie Middle School. I have 3 years of experience teaching online with 11 years of experience in total, as well as a teaching certification in Special Education. I enjoy working one-on-one with students online and in the Drop-In Center.

    If I could spend all day learning more about my content area, I would focus on simplifying the writing process and taking the fear out of writing. One thing students might find interesting about me is that I enjoy wildlife and sharing my photos.

    My name is Theresa Murphy and I am an English and Language Arts teacher here at Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA). I have been teaching at BVA for two years; before coming to BVA, I taught at Pennsbury High School and Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School. I have nine years of experience teaching in total, seven of those teaching online, as well as two teaching certifications including English 7-12 and Reading Specialist K-12. I enjoy using new technology to create instructional support resources to enhance our curriculum.

    If I could spend all day learning about my content area, I would focus on Young Adult Literature, Greek and Roman Mythology and Historical Fiction. One thing students might find interesting about me is that I have 18 nieces and nephews!

    My name is Gabriella Novia-Valle and I am an English teacher here at Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA). I have been teaching at BVA for two years. I also taught at Agora Cyber Charter School. I have four years of experience teaching online as well as a teaching certification for English 7-12. I enjoy learning about the unique tools we can use to help engage our students that aren’t found in a typical classroom.

    If I could spend all day learning more about my content area, I would focus on World Literature and Greek and Roman Mythologies. One thing my students might find interesting about me is that I have two cats, named Tonks and Rue – both named after my favorite literary characters.

    Nikki Bonaduce-Davis

    My name Nikki Bonaduce-Davis. I teach Spanish at Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA). I have been teaching at BVA for two years. I also taught at Octorara Area School District for 17 years and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for four years. I have two years of experience teaching online as well as two teaching certifications including Spanish and Program Specialist: English as a Second Language. I enjoy being able to connect with students without interruption or distraction, in order to help them practice Spanish vocabulary and grammar skills.

    If I could spend all day learning more about my content area, I would focus on the history of Spain, the relationship between U.S. and Cuba and learn new Spanish vocabulary. One thing students might find interesting about me is that I have visited 24 different countries in the past 20 years.

    My name is Jackie Maxwell and I am a Spanish teacher here at Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA). I have been teaching at BVA for almost a year, however, I have also taught at Quakertown Community School District, Central Bucks School District, Villa Joseph Marie Senior High School and Achievement House Cyber Charter School. I have three years of experience teaching online as well as a teaching certification in Spanish (K-12). I enjoy how creative I can be with the materials that I present to my students. Not being able to see my students face-to-face on a daily basis really forces me to think outside of the box to keep students interested and engaged!

    If I could spend all day learning more about my content area, I would focus on culture, the different dialects of the Spanish language, and vocabulary. One thing students might find interesting about me is that Spanish is actually the third language that I learned. I love learning new cultures and languages! I am fluent in Korean, and even know some French.

    I’m Lee Snyder and I am a Health & Physical Education teacher at Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA). I have been teaching at BVA for two years, however I have also taught at Village Charter School, West Chester East High School, Pocopson Elementary School and Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School. I have six years of experience teaching online and two teaching certifications including Health & Physical Education and a Masters in Online Teaching. I'm excited that teaching online lets me impact more students from a larger area who are very diverse in their experiences and needs.

    If I could spend all day learning more about my content area, I would focus on muscular physiology, biomechanics and sports nutrition. One thing students might find interesting about me is that prior to teaching, I worked in residential and commercial construction for 10 years.

    My name is Diana Kowalski and I am a Health, Physical Education and Graduation Project teacher here at Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA). I have been teaching at BVA for four years, however I have also taught at Boyertown Junior High East, The Center for Arts and Technology, 21st Century Cyber School and Technical College High School (TCHS) Brandywine Campus. I have five years of experience teaching online as well as a teaching certification in Instructional I – Health and P.E. I enjoy the fact that our academy meets the needs of such a variety of students and districts.

    If I could spend all day learning more about my content area, I would focus on anatomy, physiology and kinesiology. One thing students might find interesting about me is that I enjoy music, the outdoors and fly-fishing.

    I'm Jackie Brodsky and I am a Mathematics, History, Language Arts, General Science and Special Education teacher here at Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA). I have been teaching at BVA for 4.5 years, however, I have also taught as a TSS/PCA for the Child and Career Development Center, as a TA for The Vanguard School, as a Autistic Support LTS at Great Valley School District and as a TA for BVA. I have 4.5 years of experience teaching online as well as 5 teaching certifications including: Elementary (K-6), Middle School Science (7-9), Middle School Math (7-9), Biology and Special Education. I enjoy getting the chance to collaborate with parents, districts and students and getting to know the diverse backgrounds and experiences that brought them to online learning.

    If I could spend all day learning more about my content area, I would focus on biology and astronomy. One thing my students might find interesting about me is that I enjoy photography, cooking and spending quality time with my friends and family.

    My name is Tasheeva Drayton and I am a Special Education Mathematics teacher at Brandywine Virtual Academy/Philadelphia Virtual Academy (BVA/PVA). I have been teaching at BVA/PVA for three years, however, I have also taught at the School District of Philadelphia. I have 13 years of experience teaching online as well as four teaching certifications including: Special Education, Elementary Education, Reading Specialist and Middle years Mathematics. I enjoy having the ability to work one-on-one with students.

    If I could spend all day learning more about my content area, I would focus on incorporating more writing in math. One thing students might find interesting about me is that in my spare time I work as a freelance makeup artist.

    My name is Lorraine Harmer and I am a Mathematics teacher here at Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA). I have been teaching at BVA for three years, however, I have also taught in public school classrooms for five years, a tutoring center for two years and at the community college level for four years. I have 11 years of experience teaching online as well as a teaching certification in Mathematics (all levels). I enjoy making personal connections with students and watching them get excited about the learning process. When students are able to share mathematical thinking with each other and think about solving problems in new ways, I feel fulfilled as a math teacher!

    If I could spend all day learning more about my content area, I would focus on developing a mathematical mindset, implementing common core in the classroom and connecting the standards for mathematical practice to the Standards for Mathematical Content. One thing students might find interesting about me is that I am a mother to five children, including two sets of twins!

    My name is Suzanne Lezoche and I am a Mathematics teacher here at Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA). I have been teaching at BVA for three years, however, I have also taught at Middle College High School and Technical College High School (TCHS) Pickering. I have four years of experience teaching online as well as a teaching certification in Mathematics. I enjoy the flexible schedule that online learning provides for my students.

    One thing students might find interesting about me is that I enjoy photography!

    I'm Lisa Mille, a Mathematics teacher at Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA)! I have been teaching at BVA for two years, however, I have also taught at Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School, Central Bucks, North Penn and Colonial School Districts. I have six years of experience teaching online as well as a teaching certification in Mathematics 7-12. I enjoy having the opportunity to work with my students individually in the Virtual Office in order to differentiate my instruction while also getting to know each student.

    If I could spend all day learning more about my content area I would focus on statistics. One thing students might find interesting about me is that I have been to Disney World 4 times – it’s one of my absolute favorite places!

    My name is Bryan Horvat and I am a Biology and Environmental Science teacher here at Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA). I have been teaching at BVA for three years, however, I have also taught at Freedom High School and Technical College High School (TCHS) Pickering Campus. I have three years of experience teaching online and three teaching certifications including Biology 7-12, Supervisor of Curriculum & Instruction PK-12 and Administration PK-12. I enjoy the flexibility that online learning allows for students to be successful.

    If I could spend all day learning more about my content area, I would focus on Bacteriology and Virology, Cell Cycling and Regulation and Molecular Genetics. One thing students might find interesting about me is that I did once have hair!

    My name is Bryan Narwich and I am a Physics, Chemistry and Earth/Space Science teacher at Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA). I have been teaching at BVA for three years, however, I have also taught at West Chester East High School, Upper Merion Area High School and Temple University. I have three years of experience teaching online as well as three teaching certifications in Physics, Chemistry and Earth/Space Science. I enjoy the ability to individualize content based on student achievement.

    If I could spend all day learning more about my content area, I would focus on the cellular chemistry of nutrition, The Standard Model of Particle Physics and the sedimentology and event stratigraphy of barrier islands (how beaches form from natural events). One thing students might find interesting about me is that I wear my Darth Vader suit as often as possible, and my dogs love it.

    My name is David Tschachler and I am a Computer Science, Science and Mathematics teacher here at Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA). I have been teaching at BVA for three years, however, I have also taught at Technical College High School (TCHS) Pickering Campus, Cardinal O’Hara High School and Delaware County Community College. I have 3 years of experience teaching online as well as nine teaching certifications including: Business, Computers & Information Technology PK – 12, Cooperative Education 7 – 12, Earth & Space Science, Family Consumer Science, General Science 7 – 12, Middle School Math 7 – 9, Physics 7 – 12, Safety Ed/Driver Ed 7 – 12 and Special Education N – 12. I enjoy the ability to support student learning regardless of their location.

    If I could spend all day learning more about my content area, I would focus on how technology can be integrated into an online environment, what the preferred method of content delivery to BVA students is, and the chemistry of foods and cooking. One thing students might find interesting about me is that the correct pronunciation of my last name is “Chock-ler.”

    My name is Joseph Bonnette and I teach Social Studies/ Government, African American History and World Civilizations at Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA). I have been teaching at BVA for two years, however, I taught through BVA at 21st Century Cyber School for over six years. I have twelve years of experience teaching online and I have three teaching certifications including PA Level II Social Studies, PA Level II Mid-Level Citizenship and PA Level II Mid-Level Science. I enjoy the diversity of students who are afforded an alternative form of education through online learning.

    If I could spend all day learning more about my content area, I would focus on The Cold War, International Politics and Social Legislation. One thing my students might find interesting about me is my ability to have fun in a serious way in order to enhance the learning experience.

    My name is Bryant Aragona and I am a Social Studies and Special Education teacher here at Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA). I have been teaching at BVA for three years, however, I have also taught at Thomas Edison High School, Philadelphia Learning Academy-North and West Philadelphia School District. I have three years of experience teaching online as well as two teaching certifications in Social Studies (7-12) and Special Education (N-12). I enjoy the one-on-one interaction with my students. Students who take online courses need to be self-advocates of their grades and time. That type of ownership is what transitions these children into young adults.

    If I could spend all day learning more about my content area, I would focus on Social life and the Social Self in Sociology and the Westward Expansion in American History. The trials and tribulations of literally picking up everything and moving to a new, unexplored area are truly fascinating! One thing students might find interesting about me is that I can absolutely cook like a master chef.

    My name is Michael Stanley and I am a Social Studies teacher here at Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA). I have been teaching at BVA for two years, however, I have also taught at Middle College High School and Technical College High School (TCHS) Pickering. I have two years of experience teaching online and 10 years of experience teaching in a classroom as well as two teaching certifications in Social Studies 6-12 and Instructional Technology. I enjoy the ability to spend more time one-on-one with students who are having trouble.

    If I could spend all day learning more about my content area, I would focus on Government, World War II and the American Revolution. One thing students might find interesting about me is that I’m an avid snowboarder!

    My name is Andy Wagner and I am a Social Studies and English teacher here at Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA). I have been teaching at BVA for four years now, however, I have also taught at Perkiomen Valley Middle School and High School as a Learning Support teacher, at Perkiomen Valley Academy as an Alternative Education Teacher and at Technical College High School (TCHS) Pennock’s Bridge Campus. I have four years of experience teaching online as well as two teaching certifications in Secondary Social Studies and English. I enjoy the ability I have in an online setting to expand my creativity and reach more students than I would in a traditional classroom.

    If I could spend all day learning more about my content area I would focus on the impact of Roman and Greek Cultures on present day societies, Egyptian culture and the early 20th century. One thing students might find interesting about me is that I have a passion for my content area, student success, reading and lacrosse.

    My name is Ladé Coker and I am a Teaching Assistant (TA) for 6th-12th grade at Brandywine Virtual Academy. I have been at BVA for one year, however, I have also taught as a middle school and 10th grade teacher as well as a math and French tutor in the past. I enjoy meeting students since I do not get to see them regularly, motivating students to do better, and seeing their grades improve. 

    If I could spend all day learning more about any subject area, I would focus on public health and technology. If I could give three pieces of advice to my students, they would be to have a positive attitude about learning, set goals for yourself, and be organized.
     
    One thing students might find interesting about me is that I love to draw and have been doing so ever since I can remember. I even won a drawing contest when I was in school and was invited to participate at an award ceremony!

    Denae

    My name is Denae Drummond and I am a Teaching Assistant (TA) at Philadelphia Virtual Academy (PVA). I have been teaching at PVA since August, however, before working for PVA, I was a Preschool teacher for two years. I enjoy the flexibility online learning provides students. The students in this program have so much more time to do other things, such as gaining experience needed for future career choices!

    If I could spend all day learning more about any subject area, I would focus on becoming fluent in Spanish as well as studying finance. If I could give three pieces of advice to my students, they would be to hold yourself accountable for your schoolwork; keep a positive attitude and do not become discouraged; and always apply yourself 100%.

    One thing students might find interesting about me is that up until the age of 22 I was deathly afraid of hot dogs. I could not even be in the same room with a hot dog without panicking.
