Each year, over 475 economically disadvantaged children in Chester County participate in Head Start. Head Start supports families living at or below 100% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Currently, the CCIU operates nine Head Start centers throughout the county
The CCIU PreK Counts Program supports 57 families living at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Those students receive six hours of services Monday through Friday. PreK Counts is located in Avondale, West Chester and Great Valley.
Active parental involvement is required.
Head Start classes are held in full-day session, Monday through Friday.
Head Start is a federally- and community-funded program.
