Chester County Kids Voting

  • Kids at Constitution Day

Kids Voting is a national network of community-based affiliates that partner with schools and election officials to offer students in Kindergarten through high school a wide range of opportunities for civic learning. It is the combination of classroom instruction, family dialogue and an authentic voting experience that makes Kids Voting USA a powerful strategy for achieving long-term change in voting behavior.

Kids Voting teaches children about the value of voting as well as the requirements and procedures for voting and develops critical thinking and decision-making skills. Recent research has demonstrated that the skills and habits your child will acquire during the program are enduring and significant.

As part of the project, the students will study the candidates and issues of this campaign. Parents are encouraged to spend some time with their children discussing the candidates and issues and gathering information from television, newspapers and other periodicals, and the internet. Their involvement will enhance their child’s participation in Kids Voting.

Virtual Kids Voting Kick-off Ceremony Overview:

The CCIU is pleased to announce its virtual 2020 Kids Voting Kick-off Ceremony! The purpose of this event is to educate students about voting in general, but also specifically as it pertains to Chester County. As an affiliate of Kids Voting USA, we want to take the mystery out of voting and, this year, focus on the right to vote, as well as the actual voting process.

The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, October 28 at 10:00 a.m and will be streamed on YouTube for students, teachers and parents. The ceremony will feature Chester County commissioners and other elected officials, along with representatives affiliated with the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Student Activities for the Virtual Ceremony:

We are open to receiving students' work in any of the following forms: artwork, photos, quotes, videos, essays (only for grades 9-12) and musical talent. All material should be sent to by October 2.
