West Chester University (WCU) and the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) have partnered to provide a Superintendent Letter of Eligibility (LoE) program! This program, endorsed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, will prepare you to undertake the work of leading a school district or intermediate unit. Take the next step in your career as an educational leader by earning the certificate needed to be a superintendent, assistant superintendent, executive director of an intermediate unit, or assistant executive director of an intermediate unit!

Earn your Graduate Certificate in Advanced Educational Leadership from WCU and your LoE certification through the CCIU in less than one year! This fully online four-course (12-credit) program will provide you with experience using strategic decision-making skills through both theoretical and practical experiences. Learn how to develop your strengths to have a greater impact as a school district leader.

Details

  • 4 courses (12 credits) that are 7 weeks each
  • 45 hours of field experience per course
  • Fully virtual courses
  • Wednesday nights (2 courses in Fall and 2 courses in Spring)
  • Earn your certificate in as little as 2 semesters
  • Instructors are practicing superintendents

This program offers rolling admissions. Apply now and start the program in one of the following semesters:

  • Fall 1 - begins in August
  • Fall 2 - begins in October
  • Spring 1 - begins in January
  • Spring 2 - begins in March

Curriculum:

  • Builds practical knowledge that is informed by theory and current practices.
  • Focuses on developing leaders who are ready to create collaborative and equitable learning spaces for students, faculty, and families.

Course of Study:

  • EDD 750: Strategic and Cultural Leadership (3 Credits)
  • EDD 751: Systems Leadership (3 Credits)
  • EDD 752: Leadership for Learning (3 Credits)
  • EDD 753: Professional and Community Leadership (3 Credits)

Results:

  • A stand-alone certificate or embedded within the Ed.D. in Policy, Planning, and Administration
  • Apply for the PA Department of Education Letter of Eligibility through Chester County Intermediate Unit
