The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) is a member of the national network of Wilson® Accredited Training Partners. As a Wilson® Accredited Training Partner, the CCIU is able to provide professional learning and support of Wilson® research-based multisensory, structured reading and spelling programs for all ages which assists teachers in becoming proficient at teaching structured literacy. These hands-on professional learning programs are delivered by a Wilson® Credentialed Trainer.
Current Offerings
Wilson Reading System(WRS) 3-Day Introductory Course
This 16.5-hour course provides participants with an overview of the Wilson Reading System (WRS) and serves as the prerequisite for WRS Level I Certification Training. This course examines the intensive intervention reading instruction necessary for students in grades two and above with persistent and significant phonological-coding deficits. Participants explore the standard ten-part WRS Lesson Plan and practice planning, delivering, and individualizing a WRS Lesson while receiving modeling and feedback from a Wilson® Credentialed Trainer (W.C.T.). This program can be used for Tier 3.

The Wilson Reading System (WRS) Level I Certification program is designed to prepare teachers to effectively implement Steps 1-6 of the WRS with students who are reading and spelling below grade level and those diagnosed with language-based learning disabilities. This path to WRS Level I Certification involves online coursework and live, web practicum observations with a Credentialed Trainer. This program can be used for Tier 3.

Fundations is a word study program that includes word structure, reading, spelling and vocabulary. Fundations is for levels K to 3 and has an intervention strand embedded into the program that can be used for Tier 1 and Tier 2. Fundations® Launch Workshops provide the practice and guidance needed to effectively begin teaching the Fundations curriculum. The Workshops are highly interactive and are designed to maintain participant participation and motivation for optimal learning. The workshop design allows for teacher input and active engagement via activities and discussions throughout each session.

Just Words Virtual Launch Workshop
Just Words is a word study program that addresses word structure, reading, spelling and vocabulary. Just Words can be used as an intervention for Tier 2 students in grades 4 to 12.
