Restorative Practices

The CCIU helps school leaders transform their approach to school culture and discipline through relationship-building and community-centered practices. The CCIU guides you in implementing comprehensive restorative frameworks that include preventive strategies, responsive interventions, and community-building practices. Support includes training staff in restorative dialogue techniques, establishing restorative circles and conferences, and developing alternative approaches to traditional discipline. The CCIU helps create systems for tracking the effectiveness of restorative interventions, engaging families in the restorative process, and building staff capacity to facilitate difficult conversations. The program emphasizes creating sustainable cultural change that promotes accountability while maintaining strong relationships and student dignity. Special attention is given to equity considerations and ensuring restorative practices support positive outcomes for all student groups.
