Practical Nursing Program (PNP)
The Chester County Intermediate Unit Practical Nursing Program (PNP) is a post-secondary program that prepares you to pass the NCLEX-PN: National Council Licensure Examination for Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses, allowing you a faster entry into the nursing profession and opportunities for future growth and education in the field.
The CCIU Practical Nursing Program (PNP) focuses on preparing students to become an LPN. According to the National League for Nursing, “LPNs play a significant role in meeting the needs of older adults and other vulnerable groups.” They are often front-line caregivers in nursing homes, extended and skilled care facilities, rehabilitation centers and community settings.
Adult Education Programs for Careers
The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) is proud to offer innovative Adult Education programs at its three Technical College High School (TCHS) Campuses. Adults looking to earn industry certifications, licenses or general training in high-priority occupations are invited to explore the opportunities. Training opportunities vary based on funding and need.

GED Program & Adult Basic Education Classes
The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) Adult Skills Development Program offers free classes for all adult learners who need additional help in math and critical reading skills. The program helps adult learners gain the college and career readiness skills needed to enter and succeed in the workforce and/or postsecondary education. The courses run from September to May, and are taught by certified teachers. The teachers have experience in adult education and understand the unique needs of adult learners.
Academic support can help adult learners:
- Succeed in adult vocational training programs
- Obtain the General Educational Development (GED) certificate
