Young Parents ProgramOur Young Parents Program offers supportive guidance and education, essential resources, and dedicated mentorship to help you navigate the journey of parenthood while achieving your academic and personal goals
The Chester County Intermediate Unit’s Young Parents Program provides support services to pregnant and parenting students under age 24 who are enrolled in school and/or GED. These services include instruction in prenatal care, parenting and child development education, life skills education, as well as academic support to achieve their high school diploma.
Students also receive case management services that include academic support, vocational counseling, agency referrals, and access to transportation to appointments and subsidized childcare.
The Young Parents Program operates the ELECT Fatherhood Initiative, a program specifically designed to meet the needs of teen fathers.
In addition, the CCIU operates childcare centers for children ages one month to four years old.
The program is funded with grants from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, participating school districts tuition and donations from community groups and private citizens.
