Winner announced for the Disability Awareness Month: Shoe Design Contest!
In an effort to bring higher levels of awareness to students of ALL abilities, the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) partnered with Chester County schools for a fun, artistic challenge.
Sixth thru twelfth-grade students were asked to develop a shoe design that best represents and articulates the awareness, acceptance and celebration of all abilities. Participating art teachers narrowed down the designs and selected one top design from their school to be represented online and in the lobby of the CCIU Educational Service Center.
Thank you to the following schools for participating in this year's Disability Awareness Month: Shoe Design Contest: Avon Grove High School, Coatesville Intermediate High School, Coatesville Senior High School, E.N.Peirce Middle School, French Creek Elementary School, Great Valley High School, North Coventry Elementary School and Renaissance Academy.
Over 750 votes were collected during the week-long voting period, but in the end, only one designer can win.
Congratulations to Kaylee Uba, a 6th grader at North Coventry Elementary School!
As the fan favorite, Kaylee will receive her design custom painted on a pair of Toms shoes that she can choose to wear to continue to help make people #AbilityAware! Thank you again for everyone's interest and participation!
