Driver Testing Centers Reopening Friday, June 5, 2020

Downingtown, PA – The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) Driver Testing Centers have been given the green light to reopen on Friday, June 5, 2020, and they are ready to get you on the road!

Certified by PennDOT as an approved third-party testing center, the CCIU Driver Testing Centers offer two additional on-the-road driver examination centers in Chester County: one at the Technical College High School (TCHS) Pennock’s Bridge Campus (280 Pennock’s Bridge Road, West Grove, PA 19390) and the other at the CCIU (455 Boot Road, Downingtown, PA 19335). All examiners are trained by the state of Pennsylvania to administer the driver’s test.

“All of the staff at the testing centers are excited to get back to our normal routine and assist new drivers in our community! We have put many safety measures in place to keep both customers and staff safe and healthy before, during and after each test,” said Debra MacCausland, office manager of the CCIU’s Driver Testing Centers. She added that “the testing centers will continue to offer an inviting atmosphere with a personalized experience for all.”

The following safety protocols, provided by the Center for Disease Control, are in place:

  • Examiners will remain outside of the vehicle during the entire test and the test taker and parent or licensed accompanying driver will remain inside of the vehicle.
  • Appointments will be spread out to limit customers coming in for driver’s tests.
  • The testing centers’ vehicles will be cleaned between each test.
  • All examiners must wear face masks and gloves during the test.
  • All customers and accompanying drivers must wear face masks during the test.

The testing centers are open Monday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Both locations are currently accepting appointments and will begin testing on Friday, June 5, 2020. To schedule your driver’s test, you must request an appointment at
