High School Senior Liz Payne Earns 17 College Credits Toward Nursing Degree
Technical College High School (TCHS) Pickering Campus, Senior Elizabeth Payne will graduate from high school with 17 college credits: 5 credits from Pennsylvania College of Technology and 12 from Delaware County Community College (DCCC).
Liz is a TCHS Health Career Pathways student from Great Valley School District who, through hard work and determination, has made significant advances toward the completion of her college coursework.
The TCHS dual enrollment program provides eligible high school students with the opportunity to earn college credit and begin completion of their college degrees - saving substantial time and money. The Penn College courses were completed without a tuition fee and the DCCC courses at half the cost of tuition.
After high school graduation, she will attend DCCC starting with sophomore level courses toward an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. As a registered nurse, she plans to transfer to Drexel University to complete her bachelor’s degree in the field of nursing.
Liz is a member of the National Technical Honor Society, SkillsUSA and a TCHS student ambassador. She is also a member of HOSA, a national organization for students interested in pursuing health-related careers. She has participated in several major community health education and outreach projects, as well as HOSA competitions and conferences.
Liz credits her success to “Lots of hard work, I worked hard to earn the money to pay for the college tuition and worked hard to do well in my college courses,” she remarked.
