PSEL Fall Season Champions
Downingtown, PA – On Friday, December 1, 2023, 20 teams from across the state of Pennsylvania traveled to Harrisburg University (HU) to compete against one another in the Pennsylvania Scholastic Esports League (PSEL) fall season finals for the PSEL season championship.
The event kicked off with a career panel where participants explored collegiate and workforce opportunities for students focused on esports. The panel included representatives from D&H Distributing, mc3 Event Production and HU. Working as a partner with PSELS throughout the fall season, HU graciously hosted the event.
Upon the conclusion of the career panel, the matches began and later five champions were crowned. The participating high school teams battled it out in the popular esports titles League of Legends, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate and Rocket League, while the middle school teams competed in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate and Rocket League.
Teams qualified through online playoffs and played one of three game titles at the finals: Rocket League, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or League of Legends. In total, over 200 people were in attendance. Attendees included student competitors, student spectators, coaches, administratorsand parents.

Manheim Township High School Blue Streaks - Manheim Township School District
Kammas Kersch, STEM coordinator at the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) and director of the Pennsylvania Scholastic Esports League, expressed excitement about this event, stating, "PSEL was so honored to welcome our community of scholastic esports champions to come together and celebrate student learning and success. This is our first face-to-face finals, and we were so excited to watch the students compete and showcase their hard work!"
Matt Swan, educational innovations specialist at the CCIU, added, "After a fall season full of competitive matches, hard work and dedication, PSEL was thrilled to host in-person finals at Harrisburg University. Students from across the state showcased their skills as they competed for the PSEL fall season championship trophy!"
