Booster Shot Information

Dear Team CCIU,

Thank you for all of your hard work as we kicked off this school year in a positive way for our students in all of our schools and programs! With this being the third straight unique school year, it has been wonderful seeing everyone working together to make sure our students are supported through these challenging times.

With the recent news of the FDA’s approval of booster shots for all three vaccines, I wanted to provide you with some guidance on what to expect in the coming weeks. While I can humbly say that the CCIU’s vaccine clinic was a highlight of my career in education, we will not be hosting any further clinics to my knowledge. In meeting weekly with our county superintendents and the Chester County Health Department (CCHD), as well as frequent consultation with the Pennsylvania Departments of Health and Education, the consensus is that COVID-19 vaccine availability is far more accessible than when we held our March 2021 clinic for nearly 9,000 educators and educational staff in Chester County.

To that end, I encourage everyone to seek out a booster shot via their physician, pharmacy or via the CCHD as soon as possible. With the hope that children ages 5-11 will soon be approved to receive the vaccine, along with the approval of boosters to those 18 and over, believe that the second half of this school year shows great promise.

Thank you again for your continued efforts, support and dedication as we have navigated the challenges continually thrown our way. I am so grateful that we have walked through this together and I look forward to a brighter future. We have much to look forward to!

Sincerely,

George
