The Teacher Center is a self-service resource facility that provides teachers with the opportunity to enhance their educational "toolbox."

Teachers can:
  • Create instructional materials for their classrooms
  • Learn and experiment with new technologies
  • Borrow books and technological resources (eReaders, Flip cameras, etc.)
  • Collaborate with staff and other teachers to create innovative projects
The Teacher Center also provides services such as:
  • Media conversion (convert VHS to DVD)
  • Media duplication (reproduce multiple copies of DVDs/CDs)
  • Large format color poster production
  • Desk/door sign production
Admission to the Teacher Center is free for full-time Chester County public school teachers from participating member schools. Non-members are welcome to join and may use the center by purchasing a day or multi-visit pass. Charter and non-public schools interested in becoming a member school should contact the Teacher Center at 484-237-5018 or email: teachercenter@cciu.org.

Technology Audit Services

CCIU reviews the use of technology at a school or district to facilitate the learning process. We do detailed inspections of the network infrastructure, including, but not limited to:
  • Integrating Web 2.0 tools
  • Cabling (both fiber optic and unshielded twisted pair)
  • Network switches
  • Routers
  • Wireless access points
  • Content filters
  • Firewalls
  • Servers
  • Desktop/laptop computers
  • Uninterruptible power supplies
  • Backup power generators
We also interview technical support staff, teachers, administrators and students to determine what technology is working well, what is not and what improvements are needed. We consider all the information gathered and produce a customized report that highlights the positives and negatives from the audit and provide suggestions on how to improve the negatives in accordance with industry best practices. We also provide suggestions on how the technical knowledge and skills of staff can be improved to further advance the use of technology in enhancing the educational process. 
Technology Integration Services

Training is offered on a variety of instructional technologies with an emphasis on relevant and effective integration into classroom teaching and learning. Workshops can be customized to meet a school’s specific needs.

Therapeutic Education Advancing Children's Horizons (TEACH) Program
Supervisor, Clinical Treatment Programs

The TEACH program provides a therapeutic setting that addresses the academic and mental health needs of students. A comprehensive intake process is required, which includes psychiatric recommendations.

The primary goal of this program is to enhance the psychological well-being of students who are experiencing such emotional stress that they are unable to adjust to the demands and situations in a regular school setting.

Therapy Connect

Therapy Connect is a telepractice offered through a partnership between Chester County Intermediate Units (CCIU) and Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit (IU13). With the insights of successful online programs, CCIU and IU 13 have been able to expand the reach of their highly-qualified therapy staff and provided engaging, custom online therapy sessions for preschool and school age students in an individual and group setting.

Title 1 Institutional
Supervisor, Non-Public School Services

This program provides remedial services to students in institutions located throughout eastern Pennsylvania. Students are classified as neglected or delinquent and are placed in the institutions by the courts and social service agencies. The intermediate unit assists institutions in developing and implementing remedial reading and math tutoring programs.

Training and Consultation (TaC)
CCIU Training and Consultation (TaC) specialists provide in-depth training and on-site technical assistance to school district, charter and non-public school personnel.

The primary goal is to provide school programs with technical assistance through customized training and on-site support in the areas listed above. Consultants work with administrators and staff to assess needs and to develop programs and services tailored to meet the specific goals of students, teachers, and other professionals. Large and small group trainings available by experienced consultants. 
Transitional Living Program

The Transitional Living Program is an apartment-based, community integration program that serves students with disabilities during their transition to adulthood. The primary goal of the program is to increase student independence in the home and in the community.

Transitional Work Program

The Transitional Work Program is a community-based program that serves students attending a CTE program during their transition to adulthood.

  • Career and technical programming in the Technical College High School (TCHS) and Career Academy
  • Individualized academic support in the CTE program

  • Job training and work experience in a related field
  • Real-life community participation 
Travel Training Instruction (TTI)

Travel Training Instruction (TTI) is provided to those students who are employment-ready and need to develop independent travel skills or learn to use public or para-transit systems in order to travel to an identified work site.
