Ways to Earn College Credits
-
Concurrent Dual Enrollment
Many of TCHS's highly qualified instructors are also certified to teach at the college level, enabling students to earn college credit from local colleges right inside their normal TCHS classes.
The credits available through these partnerships with local colleges cost very little to TCHS students and are highly transferrable. To see how your program's credits may transfer depending on your college or university of choice, visit www.collegetransfer.net. -
Open Dual Enrollment
The relationships TCHS has with local college partners give TCHS students the opportunity to take college courses outside of their high school day for a special reduced rate. These credits are highly transferrable among colleges and may also be eligible for "dual credit," meaning that they may count towards your requirements for high school graduation. Contact your guidance counselor to find out if your high school will accept these credits.
-
SOAR Credits
Students Occupationally and Academically Ready (SOAR) Programs of Study are career and technical education programs approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). SOAR establishes a transfer credit relationship between TCHS and up to 43 PA colleges and Allegany College of Maryland.
High school students enrolled in SOAR programs can earn free college credits as a result of partnerships between high schools and post-secondary institutions (universities, technical colleges, etc.). These post-secondary institutions may offer as many as 10 free credits. To look up the credits for your program by CIP code, visit www.CollegeTransfer.net and follow the instructions below:
